A Brand of Keyura
The choti is the one piece of Radha Rani's shringar that is almost never seen from the front, and that is exactly why devotees who dress their Ladli Ji every day care about it so much. It hangs down the back of the braid, catching light each time the idol is turned, and it is the detail that tells you the shringar was done with love rather than in a hurry. This is a complete seven piece choti set in American Diamond, made for Radha Rani idols of two inch size.
The set is graduated. The largest ornament sits at the crown of the braid where the hair is gathered, and each following piece is a little smaller, so the whole line tapers naturally down the plait the way a real choti ornament does. The final piece is the jhumar that swings free at the end. Because the pieces are sized in sequence rather than cut identically, the set sits flush against a small idol instead of bunching, which is the usual complaint with cheap choti sets bought loose.
Each stone is set by hand into a cupped base so the girdle of the stone is gripped rather than glued flat. That is what keeps the sparkle alive after months of daily aarti, when lamp smoke and gulal would otherwise dull a surface-stuck stone. The frames are finished in a warm gold tone chosen to sit well against both lehenga style poshak and the simpler cotton dresses used on ordinary days.
Two inch here refers to the ornament length, not the idol height. It is cut for Radha Rani idols in the smaller sizes that most home mandirs keep, and it pairs naturally with a two inch mukut or chandrika. If your Ladli Ji is noticeably larger, the proportion will read thin and you will be happier with the five to six number range instead.
Keep the set in the soft pouch it arrives in rather than loose in the shringar box, where the hooks of other pieces can catch the settings. Wipe with a dry cotton cloth only. Never use water, polish liquid or toothpaste on American Diamond work, and keep it away from attar and loose kumkum, both of which stain the plating over time.
Shubbushrii stocks this for devotees who want temple quality shringar at a price that makes daily dressing practical rather than an occasional luxury.
