A deeply worked antique silver face carries a turquoise stone, the metal textured and blackened around it in the manner of old tribal silver. The band adjusts.
The heavy silver of Kutch, Rajasthan and the Banjara communities was not a style choice. Silver was wearable savings — portable, divisible, recognisable by weight anywhere — for people who moved and could not keep wealth in a house or a bank. That is why these pieces are substantial, why they were made to be repaired rather than replaced, and why they look built rather than delicate. This ring borrows that vocabulary: heavy texture, deep shadow, a single opaque stone.
The finish here is an applied antique patina, not the result of decades of wear. Genuinely old silver darkens unevenly, wears thin where it rubs, and carries marks from being repaired; an applied finish is even and intact. This is a new ring made in an old idiom, and it is worth knowing the difference — particularly if you are buying it alongside genuinely old pieces, where the contrast will be visible.
Adjustable at the back, so no ring size is needed. Ease it open with both hands and set it once.
Wear it alone, hand otherwise bare. It belongs with handloom, khadi, block print, mirror work and indigo, and sits naturally alongside other oxidised silver rather than gold.
Festivals, daytime functions, travel, daily wear and family gatherings.
Light for the look — this is worked sheet, not the solid cast silver it imitates, which is what keeps it wearable.
This is brass given an oxidised, antique-silver finish rather than solid silver. The metal is deliberately darkened and then the raised surfaces are polished back, so the blackening stays in the recesses while the high points stay bright. That contrast is the entire point of oxidised work — it is what makes every engraved line, pierced opening and raised edge read separately instead of dissolving into one shiny surface. It also means the finish is not uniform by design, and small variations between pieces are normal rather than faults.
Put it on after perfume, hand cream and sanitiser, and take it off before washing up, swimming or sleeping. Wipe with a dry soft cloth only. Do not use silver polish, dip cleaners or toothpaste — they strip the blackening out of the recesses, which is the one kind of damage that cannot be undone on an oxidised piece. Store it dry in a pouch, away from other rings that could scratch it.
