Product Description

Close kin to the green kundan ring in this range, and worth comparing against it. Here the centre is a clean oval green stone rather than an irregular one, and the border around it is pink rather than red — a ring of small pink stones alternating with clear ones, set into a gold-tone plate worked in rounded lobes. A short fringe of gold-tone beads hangs from the lower edge.

Design and detail

Pink against green is a softer pairing than red against green, and it changes the character of the piece completely. Red and green is the full bridal palette and reads as formal; pink and green is the palette of Jaipur enamel and of spring, and reads as pretty rather than ceremonial. If you want the kundan look without the wedding associations, this is the one of the two to take.

The regular oval centre also makes this the more conventional of the pair. Where the irregular stone on its sibling follows the old kundan logic of fitting the gold to the stone, this one is cut to a standard shape, which gives a tidier, more modern-looking result.

Wearing it

As with any fringed ring, the beads at the bottom catch on knitwear and move around in a bag. Wear it alone for an occasion, on the index or middle finger.

Fit

The open band means one ring suits several fingers, and it is why a piece like this can be bought for someone else without knowing their size. Adjust slowly, with the ring in your fingers rather than on them.

Colours and availability

One colourway is stocked, with the stones mixed as shown.

What it is made of, and how to keep it

The clear stones are cubic zirconia, sold across India as American Diamond. It is a grown crystal rather than glass, cut on the same wheels as diamond, and it disperses light into slightly more colour than diamond does — which is why a good AD piece reads bright rather than dull.

It is plated brass: a gold-tone finish over a brass body, the standard construction for Indian costume jewellery and the reason a piece this size is affordable.

Sizing is the usual worry when jewellery is bought for someone else, and it barely applies here. Necklaces and sets fasten with an adjustable chain, earrings need only a pierced lobe, and nothing has to be measured in advance. It arrives boxed and ready to give.

The photographs on this page are of the piece itself under ordinary light rather than a studio set-up, so what you see is close to what arrives. Screens do shift colour, golds especially, so if an exact shade matters to you, ask on the enquiry and we will describe it against something familiar.

Never use silver dip, polish or an ultrasonic cleaner on it. A dry cotton cloth is the only cleaning a plated piece should ever get. Keyura is prepaid only — there is no cash on delivery on any order.

The one with the irregular stone, which follows the old kundan logic of fitting the gold to the stone. This one is cut to a standard shape and looks tidier and more modern.
Yes, on knitwear, and it moves around in a bag. It is an occasion ring.
Index or middle, worn alone.
No. It is brass with a gold-tone plating, and it is not sold as gold. What it gives you is the colour and the weight of a far more expensive ring in something you can wear to a wedding without worrying about it.
That depends almost entirely on what it meets. Water, soap, hand sanitiser, perfume and cooking oil are what wear plating thin, so putting the ring on last and taking it off first is the whole of the maintenance.
No — glass and cubic zirconia, hand-set in the Indian manner. They are chosen for colour and for how they sit against gold tone rather than for hardness.
A dry soft cloth only. Never a dip cleaner or a metal polish: a dip will strip plating outright and polish wears it thin at exactly the raised points you want to keep bright.
Yes. The band is an open coil rather than a closed circle, so you widen or narrow it by a few millimetres with your fingers. It fits most adult sizes, roughly a UK J to a UK S.
Off the finger, gradually. Opening and closing the same band repeatedly is what tires the metal, so set it once to your finger and leave it there.
Better not. Water, soap, hand sanitiser, perfume and cooking oil are what shorten a plated ring's life. Put it on last when dressing and take it off first when washing up or bathing.
A dry soft cloth only. Never a silver dip or polish — a dip strips an oxidised finish completely and takes gold plating with it, and polish wears plating thin at the high points.
