Product Description

A small upright rectangle, set with red stones in a vertical row down its centre and framed all round by a border of fine gold-tone beading. The proportions are tall rather than wide, so the ring sits along the finger instead of across it.

The piece in detail

That vertical format is worth noticing because almost nothing else here uses it. A wide ring cuts across the finger and visibly shortens the hand; a tall narrow one runs with the finger and does the opposite. It is the same reasoning behind the elongated oxidised rings in this range, applied to a stone-set gold piece.

The beaded frame is the standard finish on small Indian gold work and it exists for a practical reason as much as a decorative one: a plain edge on thin plated brass shows every dent, while a beaded one breaks the line so small knocks disappear into the pattern. It is why so much inexpensive gold-tone jewellery is edged this way.

When to wear it

This is one of the two least expensive gold rings here, and at this size it is genuinely wearable day to day — small, flat, nothing projecting. Wear it on any finger, alone or stacked with a plain band.

How it fits

The band is adjustable rather than sized: a tapered strip coiled so the ends overlap, which can be eased a little wider or a little tighter. Adjust it off the finger and in small movements — working the same band open and shut repeatedly is what eventually fatigues the metal.

Colours and availability

One colourway is stocked, with the red stones shown. There are two pairs available.

Materials, and looking after it

What sparkles is cubic zirconia; what carries colour is glass. That split is deliberate, and it is the honest description of almost every piece of Indian costume jewellery at this price.

The metal is brass with a gold-tone finish over it, not gold, and nothing on this page describes it as gold.

If you are building a set, the pieces in this collection share a finish and a gold tone, so a necklace and a pair of earrings bought separately will match on the body. That is not something you can rely on across different brands, where one plating can be visibly cooler than another.

Delivery runs two to five working days within India from the day the order is dispatched, and five to twelve working days for international orders; Sundays are not counted. Returns follow the policy published on this site. Returns follow the policy published on this site; tell us on arrival if anything is wrong and we will sort it out.

Perfume and sweat are what dull a plated finish fastest, so dress first and put this on last. Wipe it down afterwards and store it sealed; humid air left against metal is what ends a finish early. Payment is prepaid in every case. We do not run cash on delivery.

As much practical as decorative. A plain edge on thin plated brass shows every dent, while a beaded one breaks the line so small knocks disappear into the pattern.
Yes — small, flat and with nothing projecting, which is rare among the gold rings here.
Yes, with a plain band, and it works on any finger.
No. It is brass with a gold-tone plating, and it is not sold as gold. What it gives you is the colour and the weight of a far more expensive ring in something you can wear to a wedding without worrying about it.
That depends almost entirely on what it meets. Water, soap, hand sanitiser, perfume and cooking oil are what wear plating thin, so putting the ring on last and taking it off first is the whole of the maintenance.
No — glass and cubic zirconia, hand-set in the Indian manner. They are chosen for colour and for how they sit against gold tone rather than for hardness.
A dry soft cloth only. Never a dip cleaner or a metal polish: a dip will strip plating outright and polish wears it thin at exactly the raised points you want to keep bright.
Yes. The band is an open coil rather than a closed circle, so you widen or narrow it by a few millimetres with your fingers. It fits most adult sizes, roughly a UK J to a UK S.
Off the finger, gradually. Opening and closing the same band repeatedly is what tires the metal, so set it once to your finger and leave it there.
Better not. Water, soap, hand sanitiser, perfume and cooking oil are what shorten a plated ring's life. Put it on last when dressing and take it off first when washing up or bathing.
A dry soft cloth only. Never a silver dip or polish — a dip strips an oxidised finish completely and takes gold plating with it, and polish wears plating thin at the high points.
