A flat square face carries a square red stone at its centre, framed by bands of geometric engraving and finished with a border of small raised beads. The band adjusts.
Setting a square stone inside a square frame is a deliberately rigid choice. There is no curve anywhere on the piece — the stone, the engraved bands and the outer edge all share the same geometry, so the design reads as one shape repeated inward rather than as a stone placed on a background. Put a round stone in the same frame and the ring would immediately look softer and less architectural.
Red is the most assertive colour available on oxidised metal — the one that refuses to sit back into the dark ground the way green or deep blue can. On a face made entirely of straight lines and repeated engraving, that assertiveness is what stops the centre from being lost in the pattern around it.
Small raised beads ring the outer edge. They frame the face so it reads as deliberate rather than simply ending, and because they stand proudest of anything on the ring they take the knocks, protecting the engraved surface inside.
Adjustable at the back, so no ring size is needed. With a square face, take a moment to sit the corners square to the knuckle rather than letting it fall at an angle.
Wear it alone. The geometry suits plain, modern dressing — linen, tailoring, plain cotton — as readily as handloom, and the red works with maroon, mustard and ivory.
Festivals, daily wear, office, travel and daytime functions.
Light and flat, though the corners are more noticeable than a round face when gripping something.
This is brass given an oxidised, antique-silver finish rather than solid silver. The metal is deliberately darkened and then the raised surfaces are polished back, so the blackening stays in the recesses while the high points stay bright. That contrast is the entire point of oxidised work — it is what makes every engraved line, pierced opening and raised edge read separately instead of dissolving into one shiny surface. It also means the finish is not uniform by design, and small variations between pieces are normal rather than faults.
Put it on after perfume, hand cream and sanitiser, and take it off before washing up, swimming or sleeping. Wipe with a dry soft cloth only. Do not use silver polish, dip cleaners or toothpaste — they strip the blackening out of the recesses, which is the one kind of damage that cannot be undone on an oxidised piece. Store it dry in a pouch, away from other rings that could scratch it.
