Tight curls of worked silver radiate outward from a blue stone at the centre, each scroll turning back on itself so the face reads as a mass of spirals. The band adjusts.
A scroll is a petal that has kept going. Where a floral design stops at the edge of each petal, scrollwork curls the line back in on itself, which fills the same space with roughly twice as much edge — and edge is what catches light. The result is a face that glitters more than a floral one of identical size without using a single extra stone, which is precisely why scrollwork has been the default filler in metalwork for centuries.
All that curling needs somewhere to stop. The blue stone at the centre is doing structural work rather than decorative — it is the one still, smooth, saturated thing in a face otherwise made entirely of moving lines, and without it the eye would circle indefinitely with nowhere to rest.
Adjustable at the back, so no ring size is needed. Ease it open with both hands and set it once.
Wear it alone with the hand otherwise bare. Blue on oxidised silver suits indigo, white, grey and ivory, and works with Western clothing as readily as traditional dress.
Festivals, parties, daytime functions, daily wear and travel.
Light for the width, since scrollwork is mostly gaps between curls rather than solid metal.
This is brass given an oxidised, antique-silver finish rather than solid silver. The metal is deliberately darkened and then the raised surfaces are polished back, so the blackening stays in the recesses while the high points stay bright. That contrast is the entire point of oxidised work — it is what makes every engraved line, pierced opening and raised edge read separately instead of dissolving into one shiny surface. It also means the finish is not uniform by design, and small variations between pieces are normal rather than faults.
Put it on after perfume, hand cream and sanitiser, and take it off before washing up, swimming or sleeping. Wipe with a dry soft cloth only. Do not use silver polish, dip cleaners or toothpaste — they strip the blackening out of the recesses, which is the one kind of damage that cannot be undone on an oxidised piece. Store it dry in a pouch, away from other rings that could scratch it.
Type: Adjustable statement ring. Metal: Brass. Finish: Oxidised antique silver tone. Work: Radiating scrollwork around a bezel-set blue stone. Fit: Adjustable, open band.
Expect some variation between pieces. Oxidation is applied by hand and no two items take it identically, so the depth of darkening can differ slightly from the photograph and between two of the same design. That is characteristic of the process, not a defect.
Costume jewellery earns its place by letting you wear a shape you would never commission in precious metal. The designs here come out of a tradition centuries old; the materials do not pretend to, and we do not describe them as though they did.
