A shallow domed face worked all over in antique silver carries a turquoise stone at its centre, with a border of small raised beads around the edge. The band adjusts.
A flat disc shows the same thing from every angle — light either hits it or it does not. A dome never does: the highlight sits in one place and travels across the surface as the hand moves, so the ring changes continuously without the wearer doing anything. It also sheds dirt and takes knocks better, because there is no flat plane to scuff.
Setting a stone at the apex of a dome is harder than setting one on a flat face, because the bezel has to sit square on a surface curving away in every direction. Done properly the stone looks as though it has grown out of the dome rather than been parked on top of it, which is the difference you are looking at here.
Turquoise is opaque and matte rather than glassy, so it does not try to sparkle against a dark ground the way a cut stone would — it simply sits as a block of colour, which is the only thing that really works against blackened metal. The pairing runs through Rajasthani and Kutchi silver for exactly that reason.
Adjustable at the back, so no ring size is needed. The design is concentric, so it cannot be worn upside down.
Wear it alone or with one plain band. It suits white, indigo, teal, ivory and anything with mirror work, and goes with silver-toned earrings rather than gold.
Festivals, daily wear, office, travel and daytime functions.
Light, and a smooth curve with a rounded beaded rim, so nothing catches.
This is brass given an oxidised, antique-silver finish rather than solid silver. The metal is deliberately darkened and then the raised surfaces are polished back, so the blackening stays in the recesses while the high points stay bright. That contrast is the entire point of oxidised work — it is what makes every engraved line, pierced opening and raised edge read separately instead of dissolving into one shiny surface. It also means the finish is not uniform by design, and small variations between pieces are normal rather than faults.
Put it on after perfume, hand cream and sanitiser, and take it off before washing up, swimming or sleeping. Wipe with a dry soft cloth only. Do not use silver polish, dip cleaners or toothpaste — they strip the blackening out of the recesses, which is the one kind of damage that cannot be undone on an oxidised piece. Store it dry in a pouch, away from other rings that could scratch it.
