A large aqua-blue cabochon fills most of the face, held in a worked antique silver setting that frames it with pointed claws. The band adjusts.
This is the piece where the stone is the ring. It occupies most of the available face, which means the metalwork has had to retreat into a supporting role — a frame and claws rather than a decorated surround. That is a deliberate inversion of how the rest of the oxidised range works, where the silver carries the design and any stone is an accent. Here the silver is structure and the colour is the subject.
Aqua is lighter in tone than the blackened metal holding it, which is unusual and is what makes this ring read as bright rather than heavy. Most colours used on oxidised silver — deep red, bottle green — are darker than or equal to the metal, so they sit into it. A pale stone does the opposite and lifts off the surface, which is why a piece this large does not look severe.
Adjustable at the back, so no ring size is needed. Ease it open with both hands and set it once.
Wear it alone, hand otherwise bare — a stone this size needs the room. It suits white, ivory, indigo, teal and grey, and anything with mirror or thread work. Silver-toned earrings rather than gold.
Parties, festivals, evenings, daytime functions and weddings.
Moderate. The stone has real presence and stands proud of the finger, so it is an occasion ring rather than an all-day one.
This is brass given an oxidised, antique-silver finish rather than solid silver. The metal is deliberately darkened and then the raised surfaces are polished back, so the blackening stays in the recesses while the high points stay bright. That contrast is the entire point of oxidised work — it is what makes every engraved line, pierced opening and raised edge read separately instead of dissolving into one shiny surface. It also means the finish is not uniform by design, and small variations between pieces are normal rather than faults.
Put it on after perfume, hand cream and sanitiser, and take it off before washing up, swimming or sleeping. Wipe with a dry soft cloth only. Do not use silver polish, dip cleaners or toothpaste — they strip the blackening out of the recesses, which is the one kind of damage that cannot be undone on an oxidised piece. Store it dry in a pouch, away from other rings that could scratch it.
