Four pale pink stones are set in a diamond arrangement — one at each point — with beaded silver between them, on an adjustable band. Sold as a pair.
Most bichiya are plain silver, because colour on a piece worn at floor level is easily lost. Pale pink works where a dark stone would not: being lighter in tone than the blackened metal around it, it lifts off the surface rather than sinking into it, so the colour still registers against a dark background and a sandal strap.
Setting four small stones at the points of a diamond rather than one larger stone in the middle spreads the colour across the full width of the face. It also keeps each setting low — four shallow collets sit flatter than one deep one, which is what keeps this comfortable despite being a stone-set piece.
The blackened metal between the stones is what separates them. Polished bright, four pale stones on bright silver would wash into one another and the diamond arrangement would disappear.
Adjustable at the back, so no size is needed. Ease it open with both hands and set it once.
Wear as a pair on the second toes. Pink suits blush, ivory, white and pastels, and this is the dressiest toe ring in the range — a festival and wedding piece rather than an everyday one.
Weddings, festivals, pujas, daytime functions and traditional dress.
Light, with the stones set in shallow collets so nothing stands proud enough to catch.
This is brass given an oxidised, antique-silver finish rather than solid silver. The metal is darkened and the raised surfaces are then polished back, so the blackening stays in the recesses while the high points stay bright. That contrast is the whole point of oxidised work — it is what makes every engraved line and pierced opening read separately instead of dissolving into one shiny surface, and it means small variations between pieces are normal rather than faults.
Toe rings live a harder life than any other jewellery — they are in shoes, in water and against the floor all day. Take them off before a bath or a swim, dry them if they do get wet, and wipe them with a dry soft cloth. Never use silver polish or dip cleaners: they strip the blackening out of the recesses, which is the one kind of damage that cannot be undone on an oxidised piece.
