Three oval stones are set in a clover arrangement across the toe, each in its own collet with worked silver between, on an adjustable band. Roughly 1 inch, supplied as a 2-piece set, in four colourways.
Grouping three ovals around a centre rather than setting one larger stone spreads the colour across the full width of the toe and keeps every setting shallow. On a toe ring that second point matters more than it sounds: three low collets sit flatter than one deep one, and height is the main thing that makes a stone-set toe ring uncomfortable in a shoe.
Opaque stones are the right choice on a foot. A transparent stone depends on light passing through it, and at floor level there is very little — so it reads grey. An opaque one holds its colour regardless of how much light reaches it, which is why traditional foot jewellery uses them almost exclusively.
Black, Blue, Ruby Red and Green. Availability is confirmed before payment.
Adjustable at the back, so no size is needed. Ease it open with both hands and set it once rather than flexing it daily.
Wear as a pair on the second toes. The colour makes this a festival and wedding shape, and it sits best with a plain payal rather than a worked one.
Weddings, festivals, pujas, daytime functions and traditional dress.
Type: Toe rings (bichiya), 2-piece set. Metal: Brass. Finish: Oxidised silver tone. Work: Three oval stones in a clover arrangement. Size: approximately 1 inch. Available in 4 colourways. Fit: Adjustable, open band.
This is brass given an oxidised, antique-silver finish rather than solid silver. The metal is darkened and the raised surfaces are then polished back, so the blackening stays in the recesses while the high points stay bright. That contrast is the whole point of oxidised work — it is what makes every engraved line and pierced opening read separately instead of dissolving into one shiny surface, and it means small variations between pieces are normal rather than faults.
Put this on after perfume, hairspray and hand cream, and take it off before washing, swimming or sleeping. Wipe with a dry soft cloth and use a dry soft brush around the stone settings and between any pearls, where a cloth cannot reach. Store it in a zip-lock pouch — which is what the supplier themselves advise, and the single most effective thing for a plated piece, because it keeps humid air off the metal. Never use silver polish, dip cleaners or an ultrasonic cleaner.
An adjustable band is a tapered strip coiled so the ends overlap, rather than a closed circle. It fits a range of fingers, which makes it an easy gift, but it is worth knowing how to treat it: open and close it off the hand, with both thumbs, in small movements. Forcing it on and off at the finger is what eventually fatigues the metal at the overlap.
A piece at this price is bought to be worn rather than kept. The sensible way to judge it is by how often it will leave the box, not by what it would fetch if it never did.
