A flower built from pierced, scrolling petals opens across the finger with a turquoise stone set at its centre, the openings cutting clean through the metal. The band adjusts.
Cutting the petals through rather than leaving them solid changes what the ring does against skin. Light passes between the scrolls and the finger shows through the gaps, so the bloom reads as lace rather than as a metal plate shaped like a flower — and a face this wide stays genuinely light because most of the material has been removed.
Each petal curls back on itself rather than ending at a clean edge. That roughly doubles the amount of edge in the same area, and edge is what catches light, so the flower glitters considerably more than a plain-petalled one of identical size without using a single extra stone.
All that openwork needs somewhere to stop. The stone is the one solid, opaque, coloured thing in a face otherwise made of gaps, and it gives the eye a place to land before it travels outward through the scrolls. Turquoise is the right choice because it is matte rather than glassy — a faceted stone would compete with the light already coming through the piercing.
Adjustable at the back, so no ring size is needed. Ease it open with both hands and set it once.
Wear it alone with the hand bare. Turquoise and blackened silver suits white, indigo, teal and ivory, and anything with mirror work.
Festivals, daytime functions, daily wear, travel and family gatherings.
Light for the width, since the piercing removes most of the metal.
This is brass given an oxidised, antique-silver finish rather than solid silver. The metal is deliberately darkened and then the raised surfaces are polished back, so the blackening stays in the recesses while the high points stay bright. That contrast is the entire point of oxidised work — it is what makes every engraved line, pierced opening and raised edge read separately instead of dissolving into one shiny surface. It also means the finish is not uniform by design, and small variations between pieces are normal rather than faults.
Put it on after perfume, hand cream and sanitiser, and take it off before washing up, swimming or sleeping. Wipe with a dry soft cloth only. Do not use silver polish, dip cleaners or toothpaste — they strip the blackening out of the recesses, which is the one kind of damage that cannot be undone on an oxidised piece. Store it dry in a pouch, away from other rings that could scratch it.
