A round silver face carries a ring of astrological symbols worked around a raised domed centre, framed by a beaded rim. The band adjusts.
Astrological signs have always been set out as a wheel rather than a list, because the system they belong to is cyclical — the year returns to where it began. Laying them around a ring face reproduces that arrangement exactly, and it has a practical consequence too: a circular sequence has no first or last symbol, so the ring has no right way up and can turn on the finger without ever looking wrong.
The dome at the middle is plain polished metal with no symbol on it. It gives the ring of signs something to orbit and stops the eye circling indefinitely — and being the one smooth, bright element on an otherwise matte, worked face, it separates clearly without needing a stone. Nothing can chip or work loose from it either, which suits a ring meant to be worn often.
Each sign is only a few millimetres across, and symbols are read by outline rather than by texture. Oxidising is what makes them legible: blackening fills every cut so each glyph stands as a dark mark against lighter metal. Polished bright, a ring of symbols this size would read as an undifferentiated band of texture.
Adjustable at the back, so no ring size is needed, and the circular layout means orientation never matters.
With no colour anywhere it goes with everything. Wear it alone or with a plain band, and it suits Western clothing as readily as a kurta.
Daily wear, office, college, travel and festivals.
Light, with a rounded dome and beaded rim, so nothing catches.
This is brass given an oxidised, antique-silver finish rather than solid silver. The metal is deliberately darkened and then the raised surfaces are polished back, so the blackening stays in the recesses while the high points stay bright. That contrast is the entire point of oxidised work — it is what makes every engraved line, pierced opening and raised edge read separately instead of dissolving into one shiny surface. It also means the finish is not uniform by design, and small variations between pieces are normal rather than faults.
Put it on after perfume, hand cream and sanitiser, and take it off before washing up, swimming or sleeping. Wipe with a dry soft cloth only. Do not use silver polish, dip cleaners or toothpaste — they strip the blackening out of the recesses, which is the one kind of damage that cannot be undone on an oxidised piece. Store it dry in a pouch, away from other rings that could scratch it.
