This is a wrap ring, which means it is not a closed circle at all. A single fine wire travels twice around the finger and finishes at two different points, and each end carries its own ornament — a small flower on one side, a round disc set with tiny stones on the other. Worn on the hand it looks like two delicate rings stacked together.
The stacked look is one of the most popular ways to wear fine jewellery, and it has one persistent problem: separate rings drift, spin and end up out of order. A wrap design solves that completely. The two bands are permanently in formation, the flower and the disc always sit where they were designed to sit, and the whole thing goes on in one movement.
The flower is small and open-petalled, finely textured so it holds light without needing a stone of its own. The disc at the other end is pave-set with a cluster of tiny clear stones, which read as one bright point from a distance and as a field of sparkle up close — a softer effect than a single large solitaire and considerably less prone to catching. Both bands are kept very fine, so despite having two of them the ring weighs around four grams.
Wear it on the ring or middle finger with the rest of the hand mostly bare, since the piece already provides its own layering. It works at the office, with everyday clothes, and equally as the quiet piece in a dressed-up look. It is a particularly good choice for anyone who likes the idea of stacking rings but finds the reality fiddly.
Because the band is open and adjustable, this is one of the safest pieces to buy for someone whose ring size you do not know, which is most people most of the time. The design is delicate rather than assertive, so it suits a wide range of tastes.
Very fine bands have little metal and a great deal of exposed surface, which is why thin rings are usually the first in a collection to dull. Add a pave setting, where every stone sits in its own small cup, and an ordinary plated ring loses its brightness quickly. The stainless steel core and anti-tarnish gold plating used here keep both the wire and the settings clean-looking.
The open wrap construction makes the ring adjustable across most finger sizes. Open and close it gently with finger pressure; like any fine wrap band, it should not be flexed repeatedly without reason.
Use a dry soft brush around the pave disc and the flower. Put the ring on after perfume and hand cream. Store it in its pouch, and remove it before swimming, bathing and washing up.
