Three or four irregular ribbons of gold, each one rippling and swelling along its length, lie stacked one above the other to form a single wide band. Nothing lines up, nothing repeats, and the surfaces are polished bright enough that the whole thing looks like metal still cooling.
This finish has become one of the most wanted looks in contemporary jewellery, and the reason is simple: it reads as handmade. Machine-formed rings are regular by definition, so irregularity signals the opposite. Stacking several molten ribbons rather than using one broad dome multiplies the effect — you get edges and valleys between the ribbons as well as swells along them, and light breaks across the whole band in a dozen directions at once.
The ribbons vary in width along their length and wander slightly out of parallel, so the gaps between them open and close around the finger. Every surface is mirror-polished, which is essential — a matte version of this shape would lose all of its liquid quality. Edges are rolled rather than cut, and the inner surface is smooth and rounded. Despite covering a wide stretch of finger, the band is formed rather than solid and weighs around four grams.
This is a modern, casual piece with real presence. Wear it alone on the index or middle finger, or alongside a simple dome band on the other hand. It suits jeans, linen, knitwear and tailoring, and it sits naturally with other organic shapes rather than with stones and symmetry. Because there are no raised settings, it is comfortable next to a watch.
A broad mirror-polished surface is the most demanding finish to maintain, and this design has several of them plus the valleys between the ribbons where moisture settles. Ordinary plating clouds on the swells and darkens in the gaps, and the liquid effect disappears entirely. The stainless steel core and anti-tarnish gold plating used here are what let the ribbons keep their shine.
There are no corners, settings or raised details, which makes this one of the more comfortable wide bands to wear. It is made with an adjustable fit for most finger sizes.
Wipe the ribbons with a dry soft cloth and use a soft brush in the valleys between them. Put the ring on after hand cream. Store it in its pouch so the polish is not scratched, and remove it before swimming and bathing.
