Two broad curves sweep across the finger and cross one another near the centre. One is left plain and polished to a mirror; the other is set along its length with a line of small clear stones. The contrast between the two is the entire design.
Polished metal and pave stones reflect light in completely different ways — one as a broad smooth sheet, the other as a scatter of hard points. Putting them side by side in the same shape makes each more noticeable than it would be alone, and because the two waves cross rather than run parallel, the eye follows them around the finger instead of stopping at a single focal point. It is a more sophisticated effect than a simple stone-set band.
The waves are generously wide, which gives the polished curve enough surface to work as a real reflection rather than a thin highlight. The stones are set pave-style into a channel along the second wave, each in its own small cup in the metal — set into the surface rather than glued onto it, which is what makes pave work last. Where the two curves cross they are joined, so the structure is rigid and nothing flexes with wear. The ring weighs around four grams.
This is an occasion ring. Wear it alone on the ring or middle finger, with the rest of the hand bare. It suits evenings, receptions, sangeets and parties, and it works best with simple clothing in a solid colour where the double curve can be read clearly. Pair it with a plain stud or hoop rather than an ornate earring — the ring is already doing two things at once.
This design asks more of its plating than most. The polished wave shows every cloud and fingerprint, while the pave channel is a row of tiny cups that trap moisture around each stone. Under ordinary plating the mirror goes hazy and the settings go grey, and the contrast the ring depends on disappears entirely. The stainless steel core and anti-tarnish gold plating used here keep both surfaces doing their job.
The ring is made with an adjustable fit for most finger sizes. The waves are smooth-edged and the pave sits low in its channel, so despite the stones it does not catch badly on fabric.
Wipe the polished wave with a dry soft cloth and use a soft brush along the pave channel. Never use toothpaste or an ultrasonic cleaner. Put the ring on after perfume and hair products, store it in its pouch, and remove it before swimming and bathing.
