Choosing the right size

Sizing here follows the standard Laddu Gopal numbering: the figure in the title is the idol size this piece is cut for. Because different workshops finish their idols a little differently, a number is a close guide rather than a guarantee — if your Thakur Ji sits between two sizes, say so on the enquiry and we will advise which way to go.

About the stones and the zari

The materials are plated brass, zari thread and American Diamond stones. None of them is precious, and we would rather name them plainly than reach for words the piece has not earned.

Shringar in practice

Changing Thakur Ji's shringar is ordinary household practice, not a festival-only event. Most families keep a simple set for everyday and something richer for Janmashtami, and the everyday set is the one that wears out.

A new set for Thakur Ji is a common Janmashtami present. The only thing to get right is the idol number, so check it before ordering rather than guessing from a photograph.

Looking after it

Oil, ghee and incense residue are what dull deity ornaments fastest, far more than handling does. Remove the shringar before snan or abhishek, keep it clear of the lamp, and wipe it down with a dry soft cloth before storing it closed.

Nothing here is gold, silver or a precious stone, and none of it is described as such. It is plated brass with zari and American Diamond, made to look right in a mandir at a price that lets a household own more than one set.

Thakur Ji is usually given a new set at Janmashtami, and many households rotate two or three through the year so that no single set takes all the daily handling.

Deity ornaments are handled more often than worn jewellery, because the idol is bathed and dressed each day. Pieces that fasten simply get used; fiddly ones stay in the box.
