A Brand of Keyura
This lavender heavy poshak for Laddu Gopal takes a gentler route to a festive look. Lavender is not a shade you see on every Thakur Ji, which is exactly why devotees who already own red, yellow and pink sets reach for it when they want the darshan to feel fresh without being loud.
Heavy poshaks differ from everyday ones in how they hold themselves. The fabric has body, the lower portion flares properly around a seated idol, and the set keeps its shape through a long aarti instead of collapsing against the figure. This one is built on a soft lavender base and offered in four sizes, so the same design dresses a small 6 inch idol or a 12 inch one with the proportions still looking right.
The lavender ground carries decorative work across the body and along the borders, finished so the edges sit clean rather than fraying where the poshak is handled daily. Lavender sits between cool and warm, which means it photographs well in both daylight darshan and lamp-lit evening aarti, and it does not fight with either gold or silver jewellery.
Sizes follow idol height, not a general small or large. The 2-3 No. option is for a 6 inch idol, 4 No. for 8 inch, 5 No. for 10 inch and 6 No. for 12 inch. Measure your idol seated, from the base to the top of the head, before ordering. Where a measurement falls between two numbers, take the larger one: a slightly generous poshak can be arranged neatly, while a tight one will not close.
Lavender is forgiving. A silver or white-stone AD mukut keeps the whole look cool and serene, while a gold mukut with a short haar warms it up for a festival. Pearl pieces suit it particularly well. A white or soft pink flower garland completes the darshan without competing with the poshak.
Festive mornings, Thursday and Ekadashi seva, family functions, and for devotees building a wardrobe who already own the usual red and yellow sets and want a shade that stands apart.
Dry cleaning is safest for a heavy poshak. For home washing use cold water and a mild detergent, never scrub the decorative work, and dry in shade. Store folded flat with tissue between the folds so the embellishment does not catch.
