A small stone set stud carries a round kundan disc, and below it a second larger disc, each worked with an openwork gold pattern inside a clear stone border. From the lower disc hangs a generous fringe of long yellow faceted drops with small pearls between them.
Available in 2 colours: Yellow and Pink. The colour refers to the drops.
Two linked discs is a simple idea executed well. Because they hang from each other rather than being joined rigidly, the lower disc moves independently, and the gap between them lets skin show through so a fairly long earring stays light in appearance.
The yellow drops are the other reason. Yellow is uncommon in festive jewellery and reads as fresh and daytime rather than formal, which makes these a good choice for a mehendi or a morning function where deep colours look heavy.
Each is bordered with clear stones and filled with a pierced gold pattern rather than more stones. That openwork centre is what keeps two large discs from becoming visually heavy, and it lets light pass through the earring.
Long faceted teardrops in translucent yellow, hung closely with small pearls between them. Because the drops are long relative to the discs, the fringe becomes a substantial part of the design rather than an edge.
Post fitting, light for their length, hanging close rather than swinging widely.
Yellow and gold against white, cream, mint or pale blue. They are particularly good with a plain white or ivory outfit, where the yellow becomes the only colour. Hair back, simple necklace or none.
Yellow has strong associations with haldi ceremonies and with spring festivals, which is why it turns up in festive jewellery far more in some seasons than others. It also behaves unusually in photographs: against warm gold it can flatten out, but against a white or pale outfit it reads with real clarity. If you are choosing yellow, think about the outfit it will sit against more carefully than you would with a deeper colour.
Because the two discs hang independently, these also sit well on an uneven ear — a common issue that most rigid earrings make obvious. A jointed design self-corrects, hanging vertically regardless of the angle of the piercing, which is a small practical advantage worth knowing if fixed drops have ever looked crooked on you.
Store them in their own pouch so the drops cannot chip. Put them on after perfume and hairspray, and keep them away from water.
