Two small paisleys, each worked with a dense granular texture, sit one above the other on a fine climbing pin. There are no stones and no colour.
The paisley — the mango or ambi — runs through Indian textiles, architecture and jewellery more consistently than any other shape, and it survives at any scale because its outline is unmistakable even when reduced to a few millimetres. That is what makes it a good choice for an ear pin: at this size an intricate motif would blur into a blob, whereas a paisley still reads as a paisley.
Each paisley is modelled in relief and covered in fine granulation, so the surface scatters light softly rather than reflecting it, and the curved outline stays legible against the skin. The two are set with their points facing the same direction along the pin, following the climb, which reinforces the sense of movement up the ear. The pin is fine, straight and rounded at the tip.
The pin passes through your existing lobe piercing and then rises at an angle along the ear, so a single piercing produces the look of a climber. There is no cuff, no clip and no second fitting. Slide it through gently and let the upper end rest against the ear — the angle it settles at is what holds it. Nothing hangs below the lobe, so it cannot swing, tangle in hair or catch on a collar.
Hair up or tucked back. Of all the pins in this family this is the one most clearly rooted in Indian design, so it sits especially well with a kurta, a saree or handloom — while remaining small enough for an office. Wear as a pair.
Daily wear, office, festivals and daytime functions.
Very light, with nothing hanging. The motifs are small and sit close against the ear.
This piece is brass finished with a gold-tone plating rather than solid gold, which is what keeps the price where it is and the weight low enough for comfortable wear. Plating is a surface rather than a bulk property, so how long it lasts depends almost entirely on what it is exposed to. Perfume, hairspray, sweat, soap and chlorinated water all shorten its life; a dry cloth after wearing and a closed pouch between wearings extend it considerably.
Put these on after perfume, hairspray and foundation. Wipe with a dry soft cloth after wearing and use a dry soft brush over the textured motifs. Store them flat in a pouch so the pins stay straight, and never use toothpaste, bleach or an ultrasonic cleaner.
