Two plain round discs, textured across their faces, sit one above the other on a fine climbing pin. There is no motif of any kind — no flower, no star, no heart. Just two circles.
Every other pin in this family carries a recognisable shape. This one deliberately does not, which makes it the right choice for anyone who likes jewellery but dislikes being asked what it represents. A circle is the most neutral form available, and two of them climbing the ear read as a deliberate design decision rather than an absence of one.
Each disc is finished with a fine granular texture across its whole face, so the surface scatters light softly instead of reflecting it as a bright spot — which matters a great deal on a plain shape, since a polished disc would look like a blank. The two are slightly different sizes, the larger below, and they sit close together with a small gap between. The pin is fine, straight and rounded at the tip.
The pin passes through your existing lobe piercing and then rises at an angle along the ear, so a single piercing produces the look of a climber. There is no cuff, no clip and no second fitting. Slide it through gently and let the upper end rest against the ear — the angle it settles at is what holds it. Nothing hangs below the lobe, so it cannot swing, tangle in hair or catch on a collar.
Hair up or tucked back. With no motif and no colour, these are the most adaptable pins in the family — they belong equally with a sari, a suit or a t-shirt. They are also a sensible first ear pin, since there is nothing about them to regret. Wear as a pair.
Daily wear, office, college, travel and casual outings.
Very light and completely smooth in outline, with nothing projecting, nothing hanging and nothing that can snag.
This piece is brass finished with a gold-tone plating rather than solid gold, which is what keeps the price where it is and the weight low enough for comfortable wear. Plating is a surface rather than a bulk property, so how long it lasts depends almost entirely on what it is exposed to. Perfume, hairspray, sweat, soap and chlorinated water all shorten its life; a dry cloth after wearing and a closed pouch between wearings extend it considerably.
Put these on after perfume, hairspray and foundation. Wipe with a dry soft cloth after wearing and use a dry soft brush over any textured surfaces. Store them flat in a pouch so the pins stay straight, and never use toothpaste, bleach or an ultrasonic cleaner.
