Instead of joining the top to the crescent with a solid link, this design uses two fine chains of silver beads, so there is an open gap between the two halves of the earring. The crescent below is broad, engraved along its face, and finished with a dense fringe of small white pearls.
Available in Silver — the oxidised antique finish with a white pearl fringe.
The gap is the whole idea. By separating the domed top from the crescent with two thin chains, the designer has left empty space in the middle of the earring. Your skin shows through it. That negative space makes a wide crescent look like it is floating rather than hanging, and it lightens what would otherwise be a solid mass of silver.
It also means the crescent swings independently of the top, so the lower half moves as you walk while the stud stays still.
Broad and upturned at both ends, engraved with a repeating pattern along its face and bordered with fine beading. The shape is the classic chandbali crescent, but rendered in oxidised silver rather than gold it reads as far less formal — more suited to cotton and handloom than to bridal silk.
A small smooth dome sits at the lobe with tiny pearls at its base, deliberately plain so that it anchors the design without competing with the crescent below.
Post fitting. The construction is light because much of the earring is empty space rather than metal, which makes them comfortable for a long day despite their width.
Plain solid fabrics — cotton, linen, handloom — in black, indigo, white or mustard. Wear your hair back so the open gap between the two halves stays visible, as it is the most distinctive part of the design. Keep other jewellery to plain oxidised silver and skip the necklace.
The empty gap between the top and the crescent is the most considered thing about this earring, and it is the kind of decision that is easy to miss. Most designs fill the space between two elements with metal, because it is simpler to make and feels more substantial. Leaving it open instead does three things at once: it cuts the weight, it lets the lower half swing independently, and it makes the crescent appear to float rather than hang. Jewellery that uses empty space deliberately almost always looks lighter and more expensive than the same design filled in.
Store them flat in a zip lock pouch so the bead chains and pearl fringe cannot tangle. Put them on after perfume and hairspray, wipe with a dry soft cloth, and keep them away from water.
