A long straight bar hangs from the lobe, and along it flat gold discs of varying sizes are attached on alternating sides — some large, some small, none evenly spaced. There are no stones.
If the discs were the same size and evenly spaced this would be a very dull earring. Varying both the size and the spacing, and alternating which side of the bar each disc sits on, turns a simple line into something closer to a mobile — the eye moves down the bar in uneven steps rather than sliding straight off the end. The two earrings in the pair are mirrored rather than identical.
Each disc is flat, circular and brushed to a soft matte finish, so the earring reads as warm gold rather than glittering. They are fixed to the bar rather than hanging, which keeps the composition exactly as designed instead of letting the discs swing into a line. The bar itself is plain and rigid. The largest disc sits roughly two-thirds of the way down, which is where the visual weight settles.
Nothing is set into this design. There is no colour to match, nothing that can come loose, and the earring can be handled casually — a useful set of properties for a long drop you intend to wear often.
Contemporary clothing and plain backgrounds. Shirts, plain dresses, linen, minimal kurtas. The composition needs space to read, so wear hair up and skip the necklace — a long vertical earring and a pendant compete for the same area.

Light. Flat discs cut from thin sheet and a narrow bar add up to very little weight, and nothing projects sideways far enough to catch on a collar.
This piece is brass finished with a gold-tone plating rather than solid gold, which is what keeps the price where it is and the weight low enough for comfortable wear. Plating is a surface rather than a bulk property, so how long it lasts depends almost entirely on what it is exposed to. Perfume, hairspray, sweat, soap and chlorinated water all shorten its life; a dry cloth after wearing and a closed pouch between wearings extend it considerably. Treated sensibly, the colour holds for a long time.
Put these on after perfume, hairspray and foundation. Wipe with a dry soft cloth after wearing and use a dry soft brush around any stone settings and into textured areas. Store them in a pouch rather than loose in a box, and never use toothpaste, bleach or an ultrasonic cleaner.
