Two small rosettes — tight, round, many-petalled flowers — sit one above the other on a fine climbing pin, each one textured across its surface. No stones are used.
These are the smallest motifs offered on this pin, and the most compact. From any distance they read as two points of warm gold rather than as recognisable flowers, which is exactly right if you want an ear climber that nobody particularly notices. It is the pin to choose for a workplace where jewellery is better understated, or as the pair you leave in and forget about.
Each rosette is a tight circular arrangement of short overlapping petals around a small centre, modelled in low relief and textured so the surface holds light softly rather than flashing. Their compactness is the point: there are no projecting tips or sharp outlines, so the pair sits very close against the ear. The pin is fine, straight and rounded at the tip.
The pin passes through your existing lobe piercing and then rises at an angle along the ear, so a single piercing produces the look of a climber. There is no cuff, no clip and no second fitting. Slide it through gently and let the upper end rest against the ear — the angle it settles at is what holds it. Nothing hangs below the lobe, so it cannot swing, tangle in hair or catch on a collar.
Hair up or tucked back, though these are discreet enough that they still read well with hair partly covering the ear — which is not true of the larger motifs in this family. They go with absolutely everything. Wear as a pair.
Daily wear, office, college, travel and casual outings.
Very light and very compact, with no projecting tips, nothing hanging and nothing that can catch on a scarf or in hair.
This piece is brass finished with a gold-tone plating rather than solid gold, which is what keeps the price where it is and the weight low enough for comfortable wear. Plating is a surface rather than a bulk property, so how long it lasts depends almost entirely on what it is exposed to. Perfume, hairspray, sweat, soap and chlorinated water all shorten its life; a dry cloth after wearing and a closed pouch between wearings extend it considerably.
Put these on after perfume, hairspray and foundation. Wipe with a dry soft cloth after wearing and use a dry soft brush over the textured motifs. Store them flat in a pouch so the pins stay straight, and never use toothpaste, bleach or an ultrasonic cleaner.
