A flat rectangular panel filled with meenakari enamel in two shades, bordered in gold, with a row of small pearls hanging from its lower edge. The shape is unusual in Indian earrings, where curves dominate almost completely. Available in Yellow Green, Blue Aqua, Black White, Mint Baby Pink, Red Green and Baby Pink Blue.
Nearly all traditional Indian earrings are built on curves — the crescent, the dome, the teardrop. A hard-edged rectangle reads as deliberately modern against that, while the enamel work inside it stays entirely traditional. That tension is the whole appeal: from a distance the silhouette looks contemporary, and up close the craft is unmistakably Indian.
The panel is divided into a geometric pattern of enamelled facets, each one set into its own gold-outlined recess, so the colour reads as a mosaic rather than a single flat field. Every colourway uses two shades, which is what stops the pattern from flattening out. A plain gold border frames the rectangle and gives the whole piece a clean edge. Below, five small pearls hang on individual links, softening the hard lower edge and adding movement the rigid panel otherwise lacks.
Each option pairs two shades. Red Green is the traditional festive combination. Blue Aqua and Mint Baby Pink are the cooler, softer choices. Black White is the most graphic and the one that works best with western clothing. Yellow Green and Baby Pink Blue sit between.
The geometry makes these easier to wear with non-traditional clothing than most enamel earrings. They work with a plain shirt or dress as well as with silk. Keep the neckline simple so the rectangle reads cleanly, and wear hair up or tucked back — the shape loses its definition against loose hair.
Weddings, receptions, festive evenings and parties. Striking enough for a function, graphic enough not to look costume-like in a modern setting.
The panel is flat and the pearls are small, so weight stays low. The rigid construction means the earring holds its position rather than swinging, which some people prefer and others do not — worth knowing before you choose.
Put these on after perfume, hairspray and foundation — cosmetics shorten the life of plating faster than anything else. Wipe with a dry soft cloth after wearing and use a dry soft brush around the stone settings and through any fringe. Store them in a pouch rather than loose in a box, and never use toothpaste, bleach or an ultrasonic cleaner.
