A compact stone-set floral stud, a small round disc beneath it, and a petite jhumka bell below that. Everything about this earring is scaled down — it is the smallest jhumka in the collection and the one most likely to be worn on an ordinary day. Available in Yellow, Baby Pink, Mint, Green, Black, Aqua, Red, Blue and Grey.
Jhumkas have a reputation for being occasion-only, and most of them earn it — a full-size bell with a long fringe is heavy, swings constantly and hides under loose hair. Shrinking the bell to this size solves all three problems at once. You keep the shape, the glow inside the dome and the traditional character, and you lose the weight and the drama. For a lot of people this is the only jhumka they will actually wear regularly.
The stud at the top is a small flower set with stones in the chosen colour. Below it a plain round disc acts as a spacer, giving the eye a break between the stud and the bell and letting the jhumka hang clear rather than crowding the lobe. The bell itself is fluted with fine vertical ribs and finished with a row of tiny gold beads around the rim instead of a pearl fringe, which is what keeps it so compact. Antique gold finish throughout.
Black and Grey are the most versatile and the best choice for everyday wear. Red and Green are traditional. Yellow, Mint, Aqua and Baby Pink suit daytime and pastel dressing, and Blue sits between. The gold framework is the same throughout.
These are small enough to wear with loose hair, which is unusual for a jhumka. They work with kurtas, sarees, shirts and dresses, and they are comfortable enough for a working day. Pair with anything — a small earring never competes.
Festivals, daily wear, office, college and daytime functions. A genuinely dual-purpose piece.
Light and short. The bell is hollow and the beaded rim weighs almost nothing, so there is no drag on the lobe and nothing long enough to tangle in hair.
Put these on after perfume, hairspray and foundation — cosmetics shorten the life of plating faster than anything else. Wipe with a dry soft cloth after wearing and use a dry soft brush around the stone settings and through any fringe. Store them in a pouch rather than loose in a box, and never use toothpaste, bleach or an ultrasonic cleaner.
