A wide crescent finished in pale enamel and painted with soft pink and blue floral work, centred on a clear kundan stone in a raised frame. Around the lower curve hang faceted drops alternating between powder blue and blush pink.
Available in 4 colours: Lavender, Sky Blue, Baby Pink and Yellow. The colour refers to the enamel and the drops.
Alternating two pastel colours in the fringe rather than using one is what gives these their character. Blue and pink together read as soft and slightly playful, and because both are pale they blend into a single gentle effect at a distance while resolving into two distinct colours up close.
The pale enamel ground is unusual too. Most enamel work uses saturated colour; a pale ground with painted detail on top is closer in feeling to porcelain than to traditional meenakari, and it suits daytime wear far better.
Fine floral work in pink and blue runs across the pale enamel, with small leaves and stems linking the blooms. The gold outlines are raised, giving the design its structure and catching light along every edge.
A single clear stone in a raised gold frame at the middle of the crescent. With so much soft colour around it, one clear stone gives the eye a fixed point to rest on.
Post fitting, light construction, comfortable through a long function.
Pastel chiffon and georgette, ivory and cream silks, and daytime functions generally. They also look lovely against dusty blue, sage and grey. Hair back, simple necklace or none.
Pale jewellery is sometimes avoided on the assumption that it will disappear against the skin, but that is a matter of the metal rather than the colour. A pale stone set in bright silver can indeed vanish; the same colour set in warm gold with dark outlining has plenty of definition, because the gold provides the contrast the colour does not. This design uses raised gold outlines throughout for exactly that reason, which is why the pastel version reads clearly rather than washing out.
Combining two colours in one piece works reliably only when they sit close together on the colour wheel or share the same lightness. Blue and pink here do the second: both are pale, both are muted, so neither dominates and the pair reads as one soft effect rather than as a clash. The same two colours at full saturation would fight each other. It is worth remembering when choosing between multicolour pieces — check whether the shades are at similar strength, not just whether you like them individually.
Store them in their own pouch so the enamel is not chipped. Put them on after perfume and hairspray, and keep them away from water.
