A softly rounded triangle finished in pale mint enamel, its border cut with fine scrollwork, filled at the centre with clear kundan stones arranged as petals. Below hangs a hammered gold ball finished with a single tiny pearl.
Available in 7 colours: Baby Pink, Green, Lavender, Sky Blue, Black, Yellow and Pink. The colour refers to the enamel border.
The gold ball beneath is what makes this design work. Without it the earring would be a pretty but static stud; the ball adds a small amount of length and weight below the lobe, so the pair moves slightly and reads as a drop rather than a flat panel.
Its texture matters too. Rather than a smooth sphere, the ball is hammered and pierced so its surface is broken up, which stops it reflecting as a single hard highlight and lets it sit comfortably beside the matte enamel above.
Mint enamel runs around the outside of the triangle, cut through with fine gold scrollwork so the colour is broken by metal rather than sitting as a solid band. It is a more delicate treatment than a plain enamel field and suits the small scale of the piece.
Clear flat cut stones set as petals radiating from the middle, each in its raised gold bed. Keeping them clear rather than coloured means the enamel border is the only colour, which is why the mint reads so clearly.
Post fitting. Compact, light, and short enough to wear all day without catching on anything.
Cream, ivory, blush and pale gold outfits, and they look lovely against deep green or navy. Small enough for an office festival day or a family lunch rather than only a wedding. Hair up or down both work.
There is a gap in most jewellery collections between plain everyday studs and large occasion earrings, and it is exactly where most invitations fall — a family dinner, a puja at home, a colleague's engagement. A compact enamelled stud with a small drop covers that ground precisely: clearly festive, clearly gold, but not so large that it demands a coordinated outfit or an occasion to justify it.
A note on the enamel border. Because the colour is broken by cut gold scrollwork rather than laid as a solid band, it is also more forgiving of wear than a plain enamel field would be. Small knocks tend to land on the raised metal rather than the colour, which is one reason this style of border has stayed popular for small everyday pieces.
Keep them in a zip lock pouch so the enamel is not chipped. Put them on after perfume and hairspray, wipe with a dry soft cloth, and keep them away from water.
