A large deep maroon oval sits at the centre, framed by a fan of clear kundan petals that spreads outward and downward into a broad crescent. From the lower edge hang faceted drops in mixed jewel colours — green, blue, pink, olive and ruby together.
Available in Green — the option shown, with the mixed colour drop fringe.
A single dark stone surrounded by clear ones is one of the most reliable arrangements in traditional jewellery, and the reason is contrast. The maroon absorbs light while everything around it reflects, so the eye is pulled straight to the centre and the earring gains a clear focal point instead of reading as a field of stones.
The mixed drop colours then do the opposite job, scattering attention along the bottom edge. Between the two, the earring holds interest at the top and keeps moving at the base.
Built as openwork gold set with rows of flat cut kundan, widening from the centre outward. Each stone carries the raised gold outline of a true kundan setting, so at close range you see a fine gold grid across the whole surface.
Faceted teardrop beads in several colours, hung at slightly different lengths so the lower edge is soft rather than level. Mixed colour fringes are far easier to coordinate than a single shade, because something in the mix will pick up something in almost any outfit.
Post fitting. These are substantial bridal earrings, so plan on an evening function rather than all day, though the openwork frame keeps them lighter than their size suggests.
Lehengas, heavy silk sarees and bridal wear, ideally in a solid colour so the stone work reads clearly. Hair up, necklace short or absent.
When choosing jewellery for a wedding day, weight and construction matter more than design. A pair worn for twelve hours will be judged by how the lobe feels at hour eight, not by how it looked in the shop. Openwork frames, hollow bells and weight spread across many small elements are what make large earrings survivable; a solid cast panel of the same size will not. It is worth holding a pair by the post to feel where the weight sits before committing to it for a long day.
It is also worth thinking about where the earrings will be seen. Most wedding photographs are taken from slightly above and to one side, which shows the top half of an earring clearly and foreshortens the drop. A design with its strongest element near the lobe, as here, photographs consistently well from that angle, while a piece that saves its best detail for the very bottom often records as an indistinct shape.
Store them in a zip lock pouch so the drops cannot chip. Put them on after perfume and hairspray, wipe with a dry soft cloth, and keep them away from water.
