Two motifs on one earring: a lotus opening at the top and a peacock worked into the body of the crescent below, both in meenakari enamel, with a dense border of small pearls running around the outer curve. Available in Green, Aqua, Mint and Baby Pink.
The lotus and the peacock are the two most used symbols in Indian decorative art, and they are almost never combined on a single earring because either one is usually considered enough. Putting both on one crescent produces something genuinely dense — there is more to look at here than on any other design in this collection — and it works because the two sit at different scales, the lotus small and upright at the top, the peacock spread wide across the body below.
The enamel is laid into recesses between raised gold outlines, so every element is defined by a metal line and the colour never bleeds from one shape into the next — this is what keeps a busy design readable rather than muddled. The peacock's tail fans across the open centre of the crescent, filling the space most chandbalis leave empty. The pearl border is close-set and continuous, which gives the outer edge a soft fringe and a definite finish. Warm gold throughout.
Green is the traditional choice and the one that suits the peacock motif best. Aqua is brighter and more modern. Mint and Baby Pink are the pastels, which make the design noticeably softer and better for daytime wear. The gold outlines and pearl border stay the same across all four.
A design this detailed needs a plain outfit. Solid-colour silk or cotton lets the lotus and peacock read; anything printed or heavily worked turns them into visual noise. Hair fully back, neck bare or a single thin chain, and nothing else competing.
Festivals, pujas, weddings, Navratri and Diwali. These are occasion earrings and look deliberately dressed-up rather than casual.
Mid-weight. The crescent is filled rather than open, which adds some mass compared with a plain chandbali, though the pearl border is light. Comfortable for an evening rather than a full day.
Put these on after perfume, hairspray and foundation — cosmetics shorten the life of plating faster than anything else. Wipe with a dry soft cloth after wearing and use a dry soft brush around the stone settings and through any fringe. Store them in a pouch rather than loose in a box, and never use toothpaste, bleach or an ultrasonic cleaner.
