These are long. A narrow column of clear kundan runs down from the lobe, widening gradually into a fan, with a single oval teal stone set at the centre of the widest point and a dense fringe of teal bead drops beneath.
Available in 10 colours: Sky Pink, Black, Teal Green, Baby Pink, Blue, Pink, Lavender, Purple, Red and Green. The colour refers to the centre stone and the bead fringe; the kundan body stays clear.
The gradual widening is what makes the shape work. Rather than a sharp change from stud to panel, the earring expands steadily from a narrow top to a broad base, which draws a long clean triangle beside the jaw. It is a shape that elongates rather than widens, so it suits round and square face shapes particularly well.
A single coloured stone at the centre of all that clear kundan is a very efficient use of colour. One stone, well placed, does more than a dozen scattered through the design.
Set in the traditional manner, each stone pressed into a bed of soft metal that leaves a raised gold outline around it. On a piece with this many stones, those outlines create a fine gold grid across the whole surface, which is a large part of why kundan work looks so rich.
Faceted teardrop beads hang densely along the full width of the base, graduated slightly longer toward the centre so the lower edge curves rather than cutting straight across.
Post fitting. They are long, so they are function jewellery rather than everyday wear, but the openwork frame keeps them lighter than their size suggests.
Lehengas, heavy silks and bridal wear. Hair must be up. Skip the necklace entirely, or wear something very short — at this length anything at the collarbone will collide.
Long earrings are often described as universally flattering, which is not quite true. What they actually do is add vertical line, which balances a round or square face and can overextend a long, narrow one. A tapering shape like this one — narrow at the lobe, widening steadily toward the base — adds that vertical line while also filling the space beside the jaw, so it works more broadly than a straight drop of the same length. If very long earrings have looked wrong on you before, a shape that widens as it falls is usually the fix.
Store them flat in their own pouch so the fringe cannot tangle. Put them on after perfume and hairspray, wipe with a dry soft cloth, and keep them away from water.
