This is the most elaborate design in the collection and the one that behaves most like a traditional occasion earring. It is built in three descending tiers. At the top sits a small round floral cluster set with pale stones. Below it a wide panel opens out, set with larger stones in raised bezels and edged with a fine pearl fringe of its own. From the ends of that panel hang two small jhumka domes, each fluted and each finished with its own row of pearl beads. The layering is what gives the pair its movement, since the three sections swing slightly independently of each other.
The two-tone finish runs through all three tiers, with warm gold on the raised frames and darker antique silver worked into the recessed detail, so each level is clearly separated from the one above it. The stones are set in the pale mint and ivory range and sit in visible metal bezels rather than being surface-mounted. Because the earring widens through the middle tier before narrowing again into the twin domes, it reads as a proper chandelier shape rather than a simple drop. At roughly forty grams for the pair it is the most substantial piece here, which is the natural trade-off for this much construction.
An earring this layered should be the only significant jewellery above the waist. Wear your hair completely up so all three tiers are visible, and leave the neck bare or wear a very fine chain. It suits a heavy saree or a lehenga far better than it suits everyday clothing, and it looks best with a plain or lightly worked blouse rather than an embellished one. If you are the bride or part of the wedding party, this is the kind of earring that photographs well because the tiers catch light at different angles.
Weddings, receptions, engagement ceremonies and sangeet nights. It is an occasion piece, bought for the events where you want the jewellery to be part of the outfit rather than an accent to it.
Store this pair on its own, ideally hanging or laid flat in a compartment where the two fringes cannot tangle with other jewellery. Keep it dry, put it on after perfume and hair spray have settled, and take it off before sleeping. Wipe it only with a soft dry cloth and never with an abrasive one, since rubbing will blur the boundary between the gold and silver finishes. Avoid liquid dips completely, as they will seep between the tiers and cannot be wiped out from behind the stone settings.
