This is the grandest piece in the collection. A large kundan disc sits at the lobe, and from it a curved gold arm sweeps upward and over the ear. Below the disc hang three jhumkas — a large central bell with a smaller one on each side — separated by green enamel discs set with ruby centres, all finished with pearl fringes.
Available in 5 colours: Sea Green, Green, Blue, Black and Red. The colour refers to the enamel discs and accent stones.
The curved arm is the reason these can exist at this size. By hooking over the ear it transfers a large share of the weight away from the piercing, which is the only way an earring carrying three bells is wearable for an entire wedding day.
Visually it also draws a line from the lobe up and around the ear, framing the side of the face in a way an ordinary drop cannot. It is a shape associated specifically with bridal dressing for exactly that reason.
The centre bell is noticeably larger, with the two flanking ones set slightly higher, so the group forms a shallow arc rather than a straight line. Each has its own pearl fringe, and each swings independently.
Small green enamel rounds with ruby centres sit between the bells, introducing colour into what is otherwise clear kundan and gold. They also break up the row so the three bells do not read as a single mass.
The disc hangs from the lobe while the arm rests over the ear. Many people also pin the arm into the hair for extra security. Even so, this is a ceremony piece rather than an all day one.
A lehenga or heavy bridal silk. Hair must be up or in a low bun, since the arm and its line over the ear are the whole point. Skip the necklace, or wear something very short and close to the throat.
Most bridal outfits can carry one genuinely large piece and no more. If these are your earrings, they should be the statement, and the necklace, tikka and bangles should all step back. The common mistake is treating every piece as a centrepiece, which leaves the face crowded and nothing legible. Decide first which item is doing the talking, then choose everything else to support it.
Store them flat in their own pouch so the bells and fringes cannot tangle. Put them on after perfume and hairspray, and keep them away from water.
