Flat-set kundan stones across a pair of jhumkas in gold-polished brass and coloured stones. The upper half climbs like a vine. They measure about 2.5 inches.
What makes this a jhumka rather than a drop is the hollow bell: the whole lower half is a dome of thin metal with an open mouth. That construction is why an earring this wide still weighs almost nothing on the lobe.
The upper half is drawn as a climbing vine, stones stepping smaller as the line rises towards the lobe. Stepping the sizes is what keeps a long earring from looking top-heavy.
Three small bells hang in a row along the lower edge. Three is the usual number — two reads as unfinished, four crowds the arc.
Shaped bead drops hang below the body of the earring, lengthening the line and stopping the design from reading as one solid block.
Underneath the finish it is brass, given a warm gold polish rather than a thin bright electroplate. A polish of this kind sits better against kundan work, because the slightly deeper colour is closer to what the setting technique was invented for.
Those wide flat rims around the stones are the kundan idiom. Kundan setting beds a flat stone in soft metal worked cold around its edge, and the shape it leaves behind is the most recognisable thing in Indian jewellery. Nothing here is gold foil, but the proportions are the ones that technique produced.
There are 9 colourways: White, Purple, Green, Baby Pink, Lavender, Red, Sky Blue, Pink and Multi Color. The swatches on this page show them; the shade you choose is confirmed on your enquiry before anything is charged.
Wear them with the hair tied back or up. A jhumka of this size is lost against loose hair, and the bell needs room to swing.
There is no sense in which this is an investment piece, and that is rather the point of it — you can buy a pair that suits one outfit, wear it to one wedding, and be perfectly satisfied.
The care is simple and it does matter: no water, no perfume, no chemicals on the metal. Wipe them dry after each wearing and store them sealed rather than in open air. On oxidised work, never use a silver dip — a dip strips the blackening that the design depends on and the piece cannot be brought back.
Checkout on this piece runs through an enquiry rather than a cart. Colour stock moves fast at this price, so we confirm the exact shade, the price and the delivery estimate with you before anything is paid. All Keyura orders are prepaid. Cash on delivery is not offered anywhere on this site.
