A three piece set: two chandbali earrings, each carrying a row of small jhumkas below a kundan crescent, and a matching maang tikka built the same way on a long chain. Every piece is hung with soft pink bead drops.
Available in 2 colours: Pink and Baby Pink. The colour refers to the bead drops and the accent stones.
Matching a tikka to earrings bought separately rarely works, because gold tone and stone colour vary between production runs. A set made together removes the problem, and with a design this detailed — kundan crescent, hanging jhumkas, bead drops — the risk of a near-miss would be high.
The earrings alone would be a strong pair. What the tikka adds is symmetry: a vertical line down the centre parting balanced by the two earrings, which is the arrangement traditional bridal dressing is built around.
A clear kundan crescent with a stone set top, and below it three miniature jhumkas hanging on short links, each with its own tiny fringe. The bead drops hang beyond them, so the lower edge has two levels of movement.
A long fine chain with a hook to fasten into the hair, ending in a pendant built as a smaller version of the earring crescent. Because most of its length is chain, it weighs very little.
The earrings are post fitting and moderate in weight for their size, since the crescent is openwork behind the stones. The tikka is light.
Pastel and ivory lehengas, cream and blush silks. Hair must be parted in the centre for the tikka to hang correctly. With a full set framing the face, keep the necklace simple or leave it off entirely.
The usual advice is to buy the earrings first, because they sit closest to the face and are hardest to compromise on, then match the tikka, and leave the necklace until last since it has the most freedom to differ. A set like this settles the first two decisions at once, which is worth more than it sounds when you are assembling several pieces under time pressure.
A maang tikka is the piece people most often get wrong, usually by fastening it too far back. The hook should sit just behind the hairline at the parting, so the chain lies flat and the pendant rests in the middle of the forehead rather than hanging loose. If it swings when you turn your head it is too far back; if it pulls on the hair it is too far forward. A few minutes spent getting that right makes far more difference to how the whole set looks than the piece itself.
Store the set flat in a pouch so the tikka chain does not tangle with the earrings. Put it on after perfume and hairspray, and keep it away from water.
