An open rectangular framework of fine gold bars, with round cabochon stones and small pointed gold leaves scattered across it at irregular intervals. The whole thing hangs from a single round stone at the lobe. Available in Baby Pink, Green, Grey, Yellow, Blue, Mint, Aqua, Black and Red.
The stones are not arranged on a regular lattice. They sit at uneven intervals across the grid, some high, some low, with the gold leaves filling gaps between them. That irregularity is what makes the piece look composed rather than mechanical — a perfectly spaced grid of stones would read as a sample card, whereas a scattered one reads as a design.
The frame is built from thin flat bars running vertically with shorter cross-pieces, leaving most of the rectangle as open space. Each stone is a smooth round cabochon in a plain bezel, fixed to the bars at the points where they intersect. The small gold leaves are flat and pointed, set at angles between the stones. A single matching cabochon sits at the lobe as the stud.
Red and Green are the deepest and most traditional against gold. Black and Grey are the most graphic. Baby Pink, Mint, Aqua, Blue and Yellow are the soft options. Because there are several stones on each earring, the colour is a dominant feature rather than an accent.
Plain clothing, solid colours, hair up. These are large and architectural and need space to read — the open grid disappears entirely against a busy print. They work with both western and modern Indian dressing. No necklace.
Weddings, receptions, parties and evenings.
Much lighter than the size suggests, because most of the rectangle is empty. The frame is flat, so it hangs close to the neck rather than projecting.
This piece is brass finished with a gold-tone plating rather than solid gold, which is what keeps the price where it is and the weight low enough for comfortable wear. Plating is a surface rather than a bulk property, so how long it lasts depends almost entirely on what it is exposed to. Perfume, hairspray, sweat, soap and chlorinated water all shorten its life; a dry cloth after wearing and a closed pouch between wearings extend it considerably. Treated sensibly, the colour holds for a long time.
Put these on after perfume, hairspray and foundation. Wipe with a dry soft cloth after wearing and use a dry soft brush around the stone settings and into any textured areas. Store them in a pouch rather than loose in a box, and never use toothpaste, bleach or an ultrasonic cleaner.
