A jhumka with a green stone set in the middle of its dome and a close fringe of pearls all the way round the flared rim.
Most jhumkas carry their decoration on the stud above the bell or around the rim below it, leaving the dome itself plain. Setting a single stone in the middle of the dome is less common and it changes how the earring reads: the curve now has a focal point, so the eye registers the bell as a face rather than as a shape.
It also exploits the geometry. A dome catches light differently at every angle, so a stone at its apex is lit from a slightly different direction each time the head moves — it flickers rather than flashing, which is a subtler effect than a flat setting can manage.
Running pearls the whole way round the rim rather than only across the front is more expensive in labour and it shows. The earring has no back view and no dead angle; turn your head and the fringe is still there. American Diamond is the Indian trade name for cubic zirconia: furnace-grown, hard enough to hold a sharp facet edge, and a little more dispersive than diamond. The coloured stones beside it are glass, because glass takes a deeper shade than CZ will.
