An ear cuff earns its place by following the shape of the ear instead of hanging from it. This one curves upward in a long sweep, opens into a stone studded crescent, and then drops a small temple jhumka below the lobe. The result covers a lot of ear without feeling heavy, because the weight is spread along the curve rather than pulling on one point.
Available in 2 colours: Red Green and Red. Red Green is the classic temple pairing, with deep red and emerald stones alternating through the crescent. Red keeps a single red palette throughout, which is the cleaner choice if your outfit already carries several colours.
The peacock is the reason to look twice. At the top of the cuff, a small gold peacock sits with its head turned and its crest picked out in fine detail, resting above a tiny pearl drop. From a distance it reads as a decorative curve; up close it resolves into a bird. That kind of detail is what separates temple style work from ordinary stone earrings.
Below the peacock, the crescent is packed edge to edge with stones seated in raised gold beds, arranged in two rows so the surface is never flat. Small white kundan stones break up the red and green, which keeps the whole piece from reading as a solid block of colour.
The drop is a proper miniature jhumka — a domed gold bell with ribbed sides and a fringe of tiny pearls around the rim. It is small deliberately. A larger jhumka on a cuff this detailed would make the earring bottom heavy and pull at the lobe. As it is, the bell swings gently and catches light against your jaw.
The cuff hooks over the ear and the jhumka hangs below the lobe, so the earring is supported along the outer ear rather than by the piercing alone. If you have found large temple earrings uncomfortable before, this construction is usually the answer — the ear carries the weight, not the earlobe.
This is made for silk. Wear it with a kanjeevaram or a solid silk saree with a temple border, or with a well cut anarkali. Because the earring travels up the ear, tie your hair back or into a low bun so the full curve and the peacock stay visible. Skip a necklace or keep it very simple — the earrings are the statement here.
Keep the pair in a zip lock pouch so the pearl fringe does not catch. Put them on after perfume and hairspray. Wipe with a dry soft cloth and keep them away from water, which is what lifts gold polish over time.
