A moderately sized silver bell, engraved around its dome with a repeating flower motif, with a pierced openwork band running above the rim and a double row of small white pearls hanging below.
Available in Silver — the oxidised antique finish with a white pearl fringe.
This is the middle ground between a plain silver jhumka and a heavily worked one. The engraving gives the bell texture and interest, but it stays shallow and even, so the earring never becomes busy. That makes it the sort of pair you can wear to work on a Tuesday and to a festival on Saturday without feeling over or underdressed either time.
The size is judged well too. Large enough to be clearly a jhumka, small enough not to swing into your neck or catch on a dupatta.
Between the dome and the pearls runs a narrow band cut through with small openings. It is a detail most people will not consciously notice, but it does real work: it separates the solid engraved dome from the busy fringe, giving the eye a pause between two textures. Without it the two would run together.
The pearls hang in two staggered rows rather than one. That makes the lower edge fuller and softer, and it means the fringe moves in layers rather than as a single line. Against dark oxidised silver, the white pearls provide the only brightness in the piece.
Post fitting, hollow dome, light for the size. Comfortable for a full day, which is the practical test that separates an everyday jhumka from an occasional one.
Cotton kurtas, handloom sarees, linen. They suit black, indigo, white and earth tones especially well. Tie your hair back so the engraving shows. Keep other jewellery to oxidised silver — a thin bangle or plain ring.
Jhumkas are the most recognisable Indian earring and also the hardest to wear casually. Too small and they lose the shape entirely; too large and they belong to an occasion. Too heavily worked and they demand a traditional outfit. This pair sits in the narrow band where all three problems are solved: a real bell shape, a moderate size, and shallow even engraving that gives texture without ornament. That is why a design like this tends to become the pair that gets worn most, even when there are far more impressive earrings in the same box.
Store them in a zip lock pouch so the fringe does not tangle. Put them on after perfume and hairspray, wipe with a dry soft cloth, and keep them away from water and damp storage.
