Five discs rather than the usual three or four, which makes this the longest of the disc cuffs we carry. Each one is cut as an open flower with petals radiating from a raised centre, ringed by a border of tiny beads, and the five are linked into a curve that follows the outer ear almost to its top.
Available in Silver — the oxidised antique finish, stoneless throughout.
The extra disc changes the character completely. A three or four disc cuff sits neatly on the lower ear and reads as a small accessory. Five discs travel far enough up the ear to become the focal point of the whole side of your face — the difference between wearing an earring and wearing a statement.
Because the discs are cut as open flowers rather than solid plates, light passes through the gaps between petals. That keeps a long row of metal from looking like a solid band and gives the piece a lacework quality.
Each disc is pierced rather than stamped, meaning the petal shapes are genuinely open. Oxidising darkens the cut edges so every petal is clearly outlined, and a fine beaded border around each disc gives the row a consistent rhythm.
The cuff hooks over the outer ear and is supported along its whole length, so no second or third piercing is needed despite the height. Nothing hangs below the lobe, which means there is no pull at all.
These want to be seen, so hair up or firmly tucked behind the ear. They suit plain cotton and handloom best, where the lacework pattern reads against solid fabric. They are also a natural pairing with a stack of oxidised silver bangles. Skip the necklace — with the earring travelling up the ear, the attention is already above the neckline.
No stones, no pearls, no enamel. There is nothing here that can loosen, chip or cloud, which makes a piece this size unusually practical for regular wear rather than occasional use.
There is a practical limit to how far up the ear a cuff can go before it becomes difficult to wear, and five discs is close to the sensible maximum for a design that relies only on a lobe piercing. Beyond that, the cuff needs either a helix piercing or a tighter grip on the cartilage, and both of those bring comfort problems. At this length, the weight is still carried comfortably along the curve of the ear, the cuff stays put through normal movement, and you can put it on in seconds without a mirror. It is the longest version of this style that remains genuinely practical for everyday wear.
Keep them in a zip lock pouch between wears. Put them on after perfume, wipe with a dry soft cloth and keep them out of water. Oxidised silver naturally deepens with time.
