This stud reverses the usual proportions. Instead of a broad field of enamel with a small stone detail, it places a compact enamel centre inside a wide halo of close-set clear stones, so the sparkle does most of the work and the colour appears as a single concentrated dot. Available in Mint, Aqua, Blue and Baby Pink.
The practical consequence of this arrangement is brightness. A ring of small stones throws light from a dozen angles at once, which is why halo settings are used on engagement rings and why this stud reads as dressier than its size suggests. The enamel centre then stops it from looking like a plain crystal stud — you get the lift of stones with a point of colour that ties it to Indian dressing.
The stones are set close together in individual cups around the full circumference, with no gaps between them, which is what makes the halo read as a continuous ring of light rather than a row of dots. The enamel centre is domed slightly and bordered in gold, raising it just above the stone field so it catches its own highlight. The post sits centred and the back is flat, so the earring stays level on the lobe rather than tipping under the weight of the stone ring.
Mint and Baby Pink are the softest and suit pastels, ivory and daytime functions. Aqua is brighter and works well with blues and whites. Blue is the deepest of the four and the best choice if these are going to be worn mainly in the evening, where a darker centre holds its own under warm lighting.
Bright enough to wear to a wedding as a guest, small enough to wear to work the following Monday. They sit well under a heavier necklace, because a stud never competes with a neckpiece, and they are a sensible choice when the rest of the look is already busy.
Weddings, receptions, engagements and daily wear. One of the more genuinely dual-purpose pieces in this collection.
Flat, light and close to the lobe. Nothing hangs and nothing swings, so they are comfortable for a full day and night.
Meenakari enamel is harder than it looks but chips on impact, so store the pair in a pouch rather than loose in a box with metal jewellery. Put them on after perfume, hairspray and foundation, wipe with a dry soft cloth after wearing, and use a dry soft brush around the stone settings. Never use toothpaste, bleach or an ultrasonic cleaner — all three attack enamel and loosen kundan settings.
