These dual tone Nandi bull stud earrings are small sculptures rather than flat studs. Each earring is a fully modelled bull standing on four legs, finished in silver tone with gold-tone horns, ears and facial detail, and a white stone flower with a green centre set on its back like a ceremonial saddle.
The bulls are cast with real depth: you can see the curve of the neck, the hump on the back and the small bells at the collar. The silver tone carries a soft oxidised shadow in the recesses, which is what makes the shape read clearly from a distance.
On the back of each bull sits a flower of white kundan-style petals around a single green stone, and the gold-tone horns lift the design away from a plain silver stud. Because the bulls face inward when worn, the pair reads as a matched set rather than two identical pieces.
Nandi, the sacred bull, is the devoted companion of Lord Shiva and sits facing the sanctum in Shiva temples across India. Wearing Nandi at the ear is a quiet way to carry that devotion, which is why this style is often chosen for Mahashivratri, Sawan Mondays and temple visits as well as for everyday wear.
Because they sit close to the ear, these studs work with a saree, a kurta or western clothes without getting in the way. Wear them with a plain cotton or linen outfit so the sculpted shape shows clearly, or with a silk saree for festive days.
They pair naturally with an oxidised or dual tone bracelet, and because they are compact they also sit comfortably under a dupatta or pallu.
As studs, these sit securely on the lobe and do not swing, so they are comfortable through a long day and will not catch on a dupatta or scarf. The sculpted body adds a little depth rather than weight, so they stay easy to wear from morning to evening.
Keep these earrings away from water, perfume and cosmetics, which dull a dual tone finish faster than anything else. Put them on after getting ready, wipe them with a soft dry cloth after wearing, and store them in a pouch so the sculpted detail is not scratched by other jewellery.
