A broad crescent curves around the outer ear with a silver lotus sitting at the top, the band set with alternating coloured and clear stones and edged with tiny pearls. Silver and gold tones are used on different parts of the same piece. Roughly 2 inches, available in eight colourways.
This is a bali rather than a hanging earring — the curve follows the outer edge of the ear instead of dropping from the lobe, so it is read as a shape framing the ear rather than an ornament beneath it. The form comes from Rajasthani and Punjabi work, where a large open hoop is worn high and the decoration sits on the ring itself. Because the weight is distributed along the whole curve instead of pulling from one point, a piece this size is far more comfortable than a drop of equivalent presence.
A silver lotus sits where the curve meets the lobe, giving the design a definite top and a point for the eye to start from. Without it the band would simply be a decorated arc with no beginning — the flower is doing compositional work as much as decorative.
Monalisa and paachi stones alternate along the band with seed pearls between them, so the curve reads as a continuous line of colour rather than a few set points. The gold elements sit behind the silver, which gives the piece depth without any part standing proud enough to catch.

Hair fully up so the whole curve is visible; this design is wasted under loose hair. It suits cotton, silk and handloom, and is a natural choice for festivals, mehendis and daytime functions. Wear as a pair, or one with a plain stud in the other ear.
Festivals, mehendis, daytime functions, weddings and family gatherings.
Comfortable for the size, because the curve spreads the weight along the ear rather than loading it on the lobe.
Dual-tone means two platings on one piece — a bright silver tone and a warm gold tone, applied to different parts of the same design so each section reads separately. It is harder than a single finish because the two have to be masked off from one another, and it is why these pieces show their detail so clearly: the eye separates the gold elements from the silver ones before it has read a single stone. The base metal underneath is brass, so this is plating rather than solid gold or silver.
Put these on after perfume, hairspray and foundation, and take them off before washing, swimming or sleeping. Wipe with a dry soft cloth and use a dry soft brush around the stone settings and between the pearls, where a cloth cannot reach. Store them in a zip-lock pouch — the supplier's own advice, and the single most effective thing for a plated piece, because it keeps humid air off the metal. Never use silver polish, dip cleaners or an ultrasonic cleaner.
