Product Description

Product Overview

Two gold-tone elephants walk towards a silver rosette on this openwork kada, a joyful and auspicious design. Elephants stand for strength, wisdom and good fortune, which makes this piece a meaningful choice for festivals and gifts.

Design Details

The elephants are modelled in relief with a textured, criss-cross pattern on their bodies, raised trunks and small detailed feet. Between them sits a round silver rosette made of tiny beads arranged like a wheel, with a domed centre. Above and below, rows of silver beads form neat borders, and the spaces between the motifs are left open so you can see through the kada. The inner side shows the silver-tone backs of the motifs.

Product Highlights

  • Openwork kada with two gold-tone elephants
  • Silver chakra-style rosette at the centre
  • Beaded silver borders
  • Auspicious elephant motif
  • Dual-tone finish

Why It Stands Out

Openwork kadas let light and skin show through, which keeps them from looking heavy even when the motifs are bold. Here the gold elephants and silver rosette read like a small carved frieze, and because the design is symmetrical, the kada looks just as good from either side of the wrist.

Styling Suggestions

This kada brings a festive, cultural feel to cotton and silk sarees, kurta sets and indo-western outfits. Wear it alone or with a slim bangle beside it. It makes a lovely talking point at pujas, family gatherings and Diwali parties.

Perfect For

  • Diwali, Ganesh Chaturthi and pujas
  • Everyday ethnic wear
  • Gifts for good luck and new beginnings
  • Collectors of animal-motif jewellery

Size and Fit

A small screw opens the kada, so it goes around the wrist rather than over the hand. It suits most average wrists; for a particular size, check with us on WhatsApp first.

About the Dual-Tone Finish

Dual-tone means two platings on one piece — a bright silver tone and a warm gold tone, applied to different parts of the same design so each section reads separately. It is harder than a single finish because the two have to be masked off from one another, and it is why these pieces show their detail so clearly: the eye separates the gold elements from the silver ones before it has read a single stone. The base metal underneath is brass, so this is plating rather than solid gold or silver.

Care

Put this on after perfume, hairspray and hand cream, and take it off before washing, swimming or sleeping. Wipe with a dry soft cloth and use a dry soft brush around the stone settings and between any pearls, where a cloth cannot reach. Store it in a zip-lock pouch — which is what the supplier themselves advise, and the single most effective thing for a plated piece, because it keeps humid air off the metal. Never use silver polish, dip cleaners or an ultrasonic cleaner.
