A large open hoop, and growing along its outer edge a row of flat gold daisies in graduated sizes. The hoop does not close — it curves round and stops — so the flowers appear to trail along it like blossom on a stem.
Big hoops have an obvious problem: the larger the circle, the heavier it gets, and weight on a hoop pulls directly down on the piercing. This design solves it by cutting the daisies from thin flat sheet rather than modelling them, and by leaving the hoop open so there is less metal overall. The result covers a lot of ear and photographs as a proper statement earring while staying light enough for everyday use.
Each daisy has five or six rounded petals with a small raised centre, and they vary in size along the hoop — larger at the bottom of the curve, smaller as the hoop rises. That graduation is what makes the row read as organic rather than as a repeating stamp. The flowers lie flat in the plane of the hoop, so the earring stays slim from the side and does not stand away from the head. The finish is a soft brushed gold rather than a mirror polish, which suits the botanical subject and hides fingerprints.
There is nothing set into this design, which has practical consequences worth knowing: nothing can fall out, nothing needs checking, and it can be worn and handled far more casually than a stone-set pair. For daily wear that matters more than sparkle does.
These suit plain clothing best — a solid-colour kurta, a plain shirt, a dress — where the silhouette of the daisy row reads clearly. Against a busy print they get lost. Wear hair back or tucked behind the ear. Skip the necklace or keep it very fine.
Daily wear, college, work, casual outings and travel. A good everyday statement earring, which is a rarer thing than it sounds.
Light for their size. The flat construction and open hoop keep the weight well down, and there are no stones or hanging parts to add mass.
Put these on after perfume, hairspray and foundation rather than before — cosmetics are harder on plating than anything else. Wipe with a dry soft cloth after wearing and use a dry soft brush around any stone settings. Store them in a pouch rather than loose in a box, and keep them away from water, soap and chlorinated pools.
