A round stone sits at the lobe, below it three nested arcs of gold wire curve downward in decreasing size, and from the lowest arc two small stone drops hang side by side. Available in Mint Black, Green Yellow, Blue Aqua and Yellow Blue.
Three arcs of decreasing radius, nested one inside the next, produce a shape that reads as a fan or a sunrise depending on how you look at it. Because the arcs are open wire rather than solid, light passes through the gaps and the earring stays visually weightless — it covers a reasonable area while hardly existing as an object. The two drops at the bottom give the open frame a point of focus it would otherwise lack.
The arcs are fine round wire, evenly spaced so the gaps between them are consistent, and fixed to each other at the ends so the nest keeps its spacing. The stone at the lobe is a round cabochon in a bezel. The two drops below are smaller cabochons in the second colour of the pairing, hung on short links so they swing slightly and catch the eye at the bottom of the arc.
Monalisa is the trade name used across Indian fashion jewellery for a smooth, slightly translucent stone with a soft inner glow, somewhere between a cat's eye and an opal in appearance. It is cut as a cabochon rather than faceted, so it shows an even field of gentle colour instead of scattering sparkle. That makes it considerably easier to wear in daylight than a faceted stone, and kinder against most skin tones. It is a decorative stone used in costume and fashion jewellery and is not a certified natural gemstone.
Each option pairs two shades — one for the top stone and another for the two drops. Mint Black and Blue Aqua are the cooler pairings, Green Yellow the warmest, and Yellow Blue the most contrasting. Two colours on a design this spare gives it more interest than a single shade would.
Hair up or tucked back so the nested arcs are visible. These suit both modern clothing and plain silk, and the Deco geometry means they do not look out of place at a festival or in an office. Keep the necklace simple.
Festivals, parties, office and daytime functions.
Very light. Open wire arcs and three small cabochons weigh almost nothing, and the earring hangs flat rather than projecting.
This piece is brass finished with a gold-tone plating rather than solid gold, which is what keeps the price where it is and the weight low enough for comfortable wear. Plating is a surface rather than a bulk property, so how long it lasts depends almost entirely on what it is exposed to. Perfume, hairspray, sweat, soap and chlorinated water all shorten its life; a dry cloth after wearing and a closed pouch between wearings extend it considerably.
Put these on after perfume, hairspray and foundation. Wipe with a dry soft cloth after wearing and use a dry soft brush around the stone settings. Store them in a pouch rather than loose in a box, and never use toothpaste, bleach or an ultrasonic cleaner.
