A deep blue disc, carved with a flower in relief, sits inside a ring of round white pearls and hangs from a small octagonal top finished in black enamel. The colour pairing — midnight blue against antique gold and cream — is unusual in Indian earrings and is what makes this design memorable.
The metal here is finished in an antique tone, slightly darkened in the recesses, which is the traditional treatment for temple and kundan-style work. It does something specific: bright polished gold competes with coloured stones, whereas an antique finish recedes and lets the blue carry the piece. It also makes the pearls look warmer than they would against a mirror finish.
The carved disc is the focal point — the flower is cut into the surface rather than applied on top, so the relief catches shadow and the petals stay readable from across a room. Around it, evenly spaced round pearls form a complete halo, each one set in its own small cup. The octagonal top is enamelled in black with a gold border, which anchors the design and gives the ear a clean point of attachment. Small green beads sit at the junction, picking up the traditional red-green-blue palette of meenakari work.
These belong with blues, creams, ivory and deep reds. Against a navy or royal blue saree the disc reads as a deliberate match; against cream or ivory it becomes the only colour in the look, which is the more striking option. Keep the neck bare or wear a very simple chain — a heavy necklace fights a disc earring of this size. Hair up or to one side so the full circle is visible.
Weddings, receptions and engagement functions. The scale is substantial enough for a bridal party and the colour is distinctive enough that it photographs well under warm indoor lighting, where plain gold earrings tend to disappear.
The disc is wide but the construction is hollow behind the carved face, so the weight on the earlobe stays moderate. The post and back are standard, and the piece hangs close to the ear rather than swinging away from it.
Enamel and carved stone both dislike knocks, so store these flat in a pouch rather than loose in a box. Put them on after perfume and hairspray, wipe with a dry soft cloth after wearing, and use a dry soft brush around the pearl halo where a cloth cannot reach between the settings.
