These blue kundan arch earrings are made of three separate shapes, each one a different width, which is what gives them their rhythm: a round stud, a narrow arch, and a wide flower disc.
The stud is a silver sunburst with short gold spikes around its rim and a deep blue stone at its centre, framed by tiny clear stones.
Below it, the arch is set on both sides with rectangular blue baguette stones in a close row, leaving the middle open so the earring does not become solid. The arch is the narrowest part of the design, which draws the eye downward.
At the bottom, the flower disc opens out wide: overlapping silver petals around a gold ring, with a large deep blue stone at the centre. The blue is repeated at all three levels, which holds the design together.
Blue kundan is a deliberate choice rather than a default, and it looks best against ivory, silver-grey, powder blue and navy. For a stronger contrast, wear these with mustard or rust.
The design ends wide at the bottom, so it flatters a longer face and balances a narrow jawline. Wear your hair up so all three sections stay visible.
The open arch keeps the middle of the earring light, so the weight is shared between the stud and the disc rather than concentrated at the bottom. The sections are linked and settle into a straight line as you move.
Baguette stones have to be set in an even row along a curve, which takes longer than setting round stones in a flat panel. Blue is also produced in smaller quantities than red or clear, so these runs are short and rarely repeated in the same shade.
Keep the earrings away from water, perfume and hair spray so both metal tones stay distinct. Wipe them with a soft dry cloth after wearing, and store them flat in a box so the arch is not bent and the disc is not scratched.
