An open silver ring, rimmed with fine beading, with a small bird perched inside it facing sideways. Two coloured stones mark the ring — one at the top, one at the base — and the rest is left as open space.
Available in 7 colours: Red Green, Sea Green, Ruby, Black, Baby Pink, White and Green. The colour refers to the two accent stones on the ring.
The open centre is what gives this design its lightness. A solid disc of the same diameter would look heavy on the ear and would weigh noticeably more. Leaving the middle empty and placing a small bird inside means you get a full round shape that still shows skin through it.
The bird is small and off centre, which is a deliberate choice. Centred, it would have looked like a badge. Perched to one side, it reads as a bird sitting in a hoop, which is a much more charming idea.
The ring is edged with tiny raised silver beads running all the way around. Oxidising darkens the spaces between them, so the rim reads as a fine textured line rather than a plain band. It is this granulation that gives inexpensive silver its handmade quality.
Post fitting, flat against the lobe, nothing hanging. At this weight they disappear in wear, which makes them a genuine everyday pair rather than something occasional.
Cotton kurtas, plain shirts, handloom. They are small enough for an office and characterful enough not to be boring, which is a difficult balance to strike. They also work as a second pair alongside a larger earring in an upper piercing.
Small silver studs like this are the most useful thing in most jewellery boxes, because they are the pair that gets worn when nothing else is appropriate. At this price it is worth owning two colours rather than one, so you have a neutral and a brighter option without much outlay.
Look inside most jewellery boxes and the pattern is the same: several impressive pieces worn a handful of times, and one small pair worn constantly until it is lost or wears out. Small silver studs occupy that second category. They suit an office, a wedding you are attending as a guest, a long flight and an ordinary Tuesday, because they never demand anything from the rest of what you are wearing. If you are buying jewellery as a gift and do not know the person's taste well, this is the safest category there is.
Keep them in a zip lock pouch, put them on after perfume, wipe with a dry soft cloth and keep them away from water.
