A small leaf shaped top set with clear kundan sits at the lobe, and below it hangs a wide flared bell, its whole surface set with flat cut stones in close rows. Large white pearls hang from the rim on fine gold links.
Available in 2 colours: Teal Green and Purple. The colour refers to the accent stones set through the design.
Covering the entire bell in stones rather than leaving plain gold between them is what gives these their richness. It is considerably more work — every stone individually seated — and the result is a dome that appears to be made of stone rather than metal, with only the fine gold outlines showing between.
The flare is generous, so the bell reads clearly from a distance, and the top is kept small so nothing competes with it.
Larger pearls hung on visible links rather than a tight fringe. They swing with a slow, weighted movement quite different from the shimmer of small beads, and fewer, bigger pearls read as more valuable than many small ones.
The gold is deepened and slightly matte rather than brightly polished. Against clear stones this is the more flattering choice: bright gold competes with the stones for attention, while antique gold sits back and lets them lead.
Post fitting. The bell is hollow, but a fully stone set surface adds weight, so these suit a function rather than a full working day.
Heavy silks, lehengas and formal anarkalis. Clear stones with antique gold go with a very wide range of outfit colours, which makes these more versatile than a strongly coloured bridal pair. Hair up, short necklace or none.
On a densely set piece, the quality shows in the spacing. Well set stones sit in even rows with consistent gold outlines between them and no gaps where the metal shows through; poorly set ones drift out of line, and the outlines vary in thickness. Run a fingertip lightly over the surface too — it should feel smooth and continuous rather than catching on raised edges. Those two checks tell you more about a piece than the size of the stones.
Clear stone jewellery has one further practical advantage worth mentioning: it photographs predictably. Coloured stones shift noticeably under different lighting, so a green that looks rich in daylight can read almost black indoors, whereas clear stones simply reflect whatever light is present. For an event that will be heavily photographed under mixed lighting, that consistency is worth having.
Store them in their own pouch so the pearls are not scratched. Put them on after perfume and hairspray, wipe with a dry soft cloth, and keep them away from water.
