This facelet takes the simplest possible motif — a heart — and repeats it. A row of small polished gold hearts runs along the wire on both sides of the nose bridge, and from two of them hang little enamelled tassels in red and green, each ending in a fringe of tiny pearls.
Most face jewellery puts a single ornament in the centre and leaves the rest plain. Spreading a row of identical hearts across the whole frame does something different: the eye travels along the line rather than stopping at one point, which follows the shape of the cheekbone and flatters the face instead of cutting across it. It also means the piece reads clearly in a photograph taken from either side, not just straight on.
Each heart is small, flat and polished bright, with no texture, so they catch light cleanly as the head turns. The two enamelled tassels hang at the points where a spectacle lens would meet the frame, filled with red and green meenakari and finished with a fringe of seed pearls that swings when you move. The frame itself is a fine brass wire in a gold tone, curved at the bridge and running back in long arms that hook over the ears.
Rest the bridge on your nose and hook the arms over your ears, exactly as with spectacles. No piercing, no clip, nothing to fasten. Adjust the fit by easing the arms wider or narrower, never by bending the bridge.
This one is a little louder than a single-motif facelet because of the pearl fringe, so give it room. Skip earrings entirely or wear the smallest studs you own, leave the nose free, and tie hair back. It suits mehendi and haldi functions, where the red and green enamel sits naturally with marigold and bright colour, and it photographs particularly well in daylight because the pearls pick up the light.
Brides at pre-wedding functions, bridesmaids wanting a coordinated but distinct look, festival dressing, and photo shoots where one unexpected piece carries the whole image.
Apply make-up, foundation and hair products first, then put the facelet on. Wipe it with a dry soft cloth afterwards and pay attention to the pearl fringe, which sits close to the cheek and picks up foundation. Store it flat in its pouch.
Type: Facelet face chain, rimless spectacle style. Metal: Brass. Finish: Gold-tone plating. Work: Polished heart motifs with red-and-green meenakari tassels and seed-pearl fringe. Fit: Rests on the nose, hooks over both ears. No piercing required. Available in a classic gold tone.
Think about what the necklace sits against as much as what it is. A busy embroidered neckline gives the eye nowhere to rest, so an ornate necklace worn over one reads as clutter; the same piece against plain silk reads as the single thing you chose to wear.
A piece at this price is bought to be worn rather than kept. The sensible way to judge it is by how often it will leave the box, not by what it would fetch if it never did.
